About Kat

I’ve always had a great reverence for food and the power it has over the body and the spirit. I was born and raised in Hong Kong, in a culture where “sik fan mei?” or “eat rice yet?” is an expression of greeting. It’s a hello—and for me, it’s a question that demonstrates the importance of being fed, nourished and cared for as part of a wider community.

My route to nutritional therapy has been guided by my own history with allergies, eczema and digestive distress. I learned from a young age that what I ate had a direct impact on how I felt, and how to protect myself from debilitating flare-ups. In my twenties, I was living and working in New York when a breakdown in my health pushed me to interrogate my own gastrointestinal wellbeing. I soon discovered proof of what I had always known: that food has a profound healing potential, and that the body’s systems all influence one another.

For more than a decade I worked as a creative strategy director, honing a critical skill set rooted in observation, analysis, and action. It’s a way of working that aligns well with nutritional therapy, which is a system for whole-body health. During this time, I studied and trained to become a fully qualified nutritional therapist, in order to bring the creative and scientific sides of my world into step with each other.

Abundance, diversity and community are the cornerstones of my method. Eating enough of the most nourishing, nutritive foods for you. Learning, experimenting and exploring different ways to live. Recognising the impact you have on your community, and the impact your community has on you. A healthful life doesn’t need to be a life without pleasure; small changes, new habits and different ways of thinking about food can have a powerful and long-lasting healing effect.
